Privacy Policy — AI Chat Export

AI Chat Export ("the Extension") is a Chrome extension published by Alpaca Extensions that exports your ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini conversations to PDF, Markdown, Text, Word, Image (PNG), JSON or to your own Notion workspace.

Summary

The Extension has no backend server that receives your conversations. Your chats are read by your own browser, from the ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini tab you have open, and turned into a file on your device — or, only if you ask for it, sent directly from your browser to your own Notion workspace. We never receive, store or transmit the content of your conversations.

What data the Extension handles

Your conversations (ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini)

When you click the Extension's icon on a ChatGPT, Claude or Gemini conversation, the Extension reads that conversation only, from the open tab, using the session you are already logged in with (the activeTab permission: access is granted by your click and only to that tab). This includes the messages, their timestamps, the images and files you shared in the chat, and the sources the AI cited. That content is processed entirely in your browser to produce the file you download. It is never sent to the developer or to any third party.

The Extension does not run on these sites in the background and does not inject anything into their pages. It only reads other conversations if you use "Export several chats" (see below).

Export several chats (optional)

If you choose "Export several chats", the Extension asks for Chrome's permission to access that AI's site (chatgpt.com, claude.ai or gemini.google.com). With it, the Extension's own page lists your history on that AI and reads only the conversations you select, using your existing session, one at a time. They are packaged into a file on your device (or sent to your Notion, if you choose Notion). To be able to skip chats you already exported, the Extension keeps a local list of exported conversation IDs and dates on your device; it contains no conversation content. You can revoke this permission at any time from chrome://extensions.

To build a PDF, the Extension briefly stores the document in your browser's local storage (IndexedDB) so its print page can open it; it is deleted afterwards.

Notion (optional)

If you choose "Save to Notion", the Extension sends the conversation directly from your browser to Notion's API (api.notion.com), into the page or database you selected, using your authorization. Notion's own privacy policy applies to content stored in your workspace: https://www.notion.com/notion/privacy

Connect with Notion (OAuth): Notion's consent screen lets you choose which pages the Extension can access. To complete this sign-in, Notion's one-time authorization code is exchanged for an access token through a small server operated by Alpaca Extensions on Cloudflare Workers. That server only performs this exchange: it never sees your conversations, and it does not store the code or the token. The token is returned to your browser.
Connect with an API token: if you paste a token from your own Notion connection instead, it never leaves your browser except to talk to Notion.

In both cases the Notion token is stored locally on your device using Chrome's storage API and is only ever sent to Notion. You can remove it at any time with "Disconnect", or by uninstalling the Extension. Chrome asks for your permission to access api.notion.com the first time you connect.

Preferences

Your settings (language-independent options such as message times, source links, your image handling choice and your Notion destination) are stored locally with Chrome's storage API.

Purchase information (Pro only)

Payments for the Pro version are processed by ExtensionPay (ExtPay) and Stripe. If you buy Pro, they collect and process your email address and payment details under their own privacy policies. The Extension only receives a "paid / not paid" status. We never see or store your payment details.

What we do NOT do

We do not operate any server that receives your conversations.
We do not use your conversations to train AI models, or for any purpose other than the export you requested.
We do not collect analytics or usage telemetry.
We do not track you across websites.
We do not show ads.
We do not sell, rent or share your data with anyone.

Chrome Web Store Limited Use compliance

The Extension's handling of user data complies with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Data is used solely to provide the export feature the user explicitly requests, and is never transferred to the developer or to third parties other than the destination the user chooses (Notion).

Data retention

Because the Extension stores nothing outside your device, there is nothing for us to retain or delete. Uninstalling the Extension removes everything it stored locally.

Children

The Extension is not directed at children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this URL with a new "Last updated" date.
